“Our interest and main task are that, regardless of what configuration of government forms in Venezuela, Georgia’s territorial integrity is recognized,” said the First Vice-Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, Giya Volski.
According to him, this will be another success of the policy of non-recognition, which is being carried out quite intensively worldwide.
At the same time, Giya Volski noted that the Georgian authorities are pursuing an optimal policy.
“We believe that the statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as the statement by the government on this matter, are adequate and correspond to the resources and levers that Georgia has. It would be highly questionable to expect success from loud statements by the Georgian authorities in this case, especially when there exists within the country a whole cohort of destructive forces who are just waiting for a reason to interpret any statement — including Mamuka Mdinaradze’s remark from 14 months ago — and present it to the public in a completely different light.
Therefore, regardless of what configuration of government forms in Venezuela, it is important for us that Georgia’s territorial integrity is recognized, including by Venezuela, and this will be another success of the policy of non-recognition, which is being carried out quite intensively around the world. This is our interest. This is our main task.
In addition, we must take into account that global processes are unfolding in the world that will determine the future of humanity. Therefore, the policy pursued by the authorities, considering these processes and effectively being in a ring of fire, is optimal — the kind that will preserve Georgia. This concerns not only specific actions but also the content of statements,” Volski emphasized.
