An Air India aircraft crashed near the airport of Ahmedabad, a city in western India. The plane went down during takeoff. According to preliminary reports, there are fatalities, though several passengers managed to survive.
According to Flight Radar, flight AI171 was heading to London’s Gatwick Airport.
Police, as cited by Reuters, report that there were 242 passengers on board.
“We are currently clarifying the details,” the airline said in a statement on social media platform X.
