The Georgian footballer and midfielder of AS Saint-Étienne, Zuriko Davitashvili, has been named the best player of the 2025–2026 season in France’s Ligue 2.

The Georgian player was recognized by the French Professional Football League. He was also included in the league’s official Team of the Season.

In the Ligue 2 season, Zuriko Davitashvili scored 14 goals and provided 5 assists in 29 matches. With 14 goals, the Georgian player finished fourth in the top scorers’ race. He also scored one goal in the French Cup. He will now aim to help his team in the playoffs.

Davitashvili became only the second Georgian to be named Ligue 2 Player of the Season. The first was Giorgi Mikautadze, who received the award in the 2022–2023 season while playing for FC Metz.

It should be noted that AS Saint-Étienne finished the season in third place with 60 points and will fight for promotion to Ligue 1 via the playoffs. On May 15, the team will face either Rodez AF or Red Star FC, and if they win, they will play a decisive match against the 16th-placed team in Ligue 1 (Le Havre AC, OGC Nice, or AJ Auxerre).
