At the European Judo Championships taking place in Tbilisi, Luka Maisuradze has won the gold medal.

The Georgian athlete defeated Romania’s Alex Crețu in the semifinal and faced Serbia’s Nemanja Majdov in the final, who had previously beaten Lasha Bekauri in his semifinal bout.

This gold medal is already the fourth European Championship title for Luka Maisuradze. He became European champion in 2022 and won bronze medals in 2019 and 2020.

At the 2026 continental championship, Maisuradze secured Georgia’s fifth medal for the national team. European champions also included Eteri Liparteliani (57 kg) and Lasha Shavdatuashvili (73 kg), while silver medals were won by Giorgi Sardalashvili (60 kg) and Tato Grigalashvili (81 kg).
