A professional wine tasting event titled “The Georgian Palate” was held in London, aiming to increase awareness and expand exports of Georgian wine in the UK market. The event was organized by Swirl Wine Group, with the support of the National Wine Agency of Georgia.
Hosted by Sarah Abbott, Master of Wine and founder of Swirl Wine Group, the tasting showcased a diverse selection of Georgian wines across styles and appellations. The event drew participation from UK-based wine professionals, media representatives, and trade buyers, further solidifying the UK as a strategic export market for Georgian wine.
Since entering the UK market in 2014, Georgian wine exports have shown steady growth. In 2024, nearly 426,000 liters of wine were exported to the UK—marking a 72% year-on-year increase.
In 2025, the National Wine Agency will continue to collaborate with Swirl Wine Group in executing a nationwide marketing campaign. Activities will include regional tasting seminars, participation in international exhibitions, and targeted media and advertising efforts designed to build brand awareness and deepen market penetration.
The UK, as one of the world's largest wine importers and consumers, represents a vital market for Georgia's wine industry, particularly for premium and traditional qvevri wines that resonate with the UK’s growing appetite for artisanal and heritage products.
