Any suspension of hostilities will be used by Russia to strengthen in the occupied territories and prepare forces for future strikes. This was stated by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.

“The UN Security Council should not be misled by Russia’s calls for a temporary or unconditional ceasefire in Ukraine. Russia will use this to train forces and organize a new attack, as well as to strengthen in the occupied territory, ”Blinken said at a meeting of the UN Security Council.

According to him, there was already a similar ceasefire in 2015, but "everyone saw what happened later." “Equal calls for both sides to cease fire is a false equation. In this war, there is an aggressor country and there is a victim country. Russia is fighting to destroy and conquer Ukraine, and Ukraine is fighting for its freedom. If Russia stops the war, there will be no more war, and if Ukraine stops the war, then there will be no more Ukraine,” said Anthony Blinken.

Blinken did not mention China in his speech, but analysts linked his statement to the "peace plan" that Beijing presented. The document speaks of respect for the sovereignty of all countries, the rejection of the Cold War mentality, the suspension of hostilities and the resumption of direct dialogue between Kiev and Moscow. China is also demanding the lifting of unilateral sanctions.

China's plan is unacceptable to Kyiv. Zelensky’s office says that any negotiations with Moscow are possible only after the withdrawal of its troops to the internationally recognized borders of Ukraine.
