The National Environmental Agency has issued a warning about weather conditions expected over the coming days.
According to the National Environmental Agency, intermittent precipitation is expected in eastern Georgia from the night of October 20, and in western Georgia from October 21 through the second half of October 22. Precipitation is expected to be heavy in some areas of the country’s northern mountainous regions, as well as in the Shida Kartli, Kvemo Kartli, and Kakheti regions. Thunderstorms and strengthening winds are also possible.
“The expected heavy precipitation may cause a significant rise in water levels and flooding on the Enguri, Aragvi, Alazani, and Iori rivers and their tributaries; the emergence and intensification of landslides and mudflows in hilly and mountainous areas; as well as localized flooding in urban areas (hazard level: moderate),” the statement said.
