Georgian athlete Luka Maisuradze won a gold medal at the World Judo Championship, which takes place in the capital of Qatar, Doha. Maisuradze won in the weight category up to 90 kg.
For the first time in the history of judo, two Georgians met in the final - Maisuradze fought for the title of champion with his compatriot - Olympic champion Lasha Bekauri.
The meeting was held in an equal and tense struggle. The winner was revealed in extra time. Luka Maisuradze held a spectacular reception and became the world champion - 2023.
Recall that at the current World Championship Giorgi Sardalashvili (60 kg) won bronze, and Tato Grigalashvili (81 kg) won gold.
