“We see that those who tried to normalise violence in Georgia have ultimately found that violence has become the norm in their own countries. This is the result they eventually end up with,” Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili told journalists in Kyrgyzstan.

According to him, the violence that was encouraged in Georgia is now coming back home to those who committed these crimes.

“As for the fact that an attempted murder in France is called an attempted murder, while in Georgia an attempt to burn someone alive is described as a legitimate protest, this is not some kind of double standard. The reason is that those from whom we expect condemnation are themselves instigators and supporters of all this. Are they really going to say anything bad about themselves?!

What will Brussels say? That storming the presidential palace is wrong? If it says so, it will have to dismiss the European Commission spokesperson who expressed support for the October 4 gathering aimed at overthrowing the government. Will the EU Delegation say that throwing so-called ‘Molotov cocktails’ is wrong, when the EU Delegation itself financed a campaign involving so-called ‘Molotov cocktails’? And what will they say about inciting hatred being wrong? Will the EU Ambassador say this, when he himself pays those who spread malice and hatred in Georgia and dances to their tune? They themselves are accomplices in all this, which is why they do not condemn it. They are the ones inciting violence, financing it and covering it up. This is the sad reality.

Unfortunately, we see that Brussels and various European capitals were involved in encouraging and financing violence in Georgia. But we also see that those who tried to normalise violence in Georgia have ultimately made violence the norm in their own countries. This is the result they eventually end up with. Those who incite violence elsewhere ultimately experience violence at home. Thus, the violence they encouraged here is returning home to those responsible,” Shalva Papuashvili said.

According to him, Brussels today is a supporter and financier of violence and those who perpetrate it in Georgia, as well as an instigator of such violence.

“We are dealing with criminals, whether it is the opposition, certain diplomats who protect it, or certain capitals that support it. They constitute one criminal side, whose instigation also prompted Grigoriadis to commit his act involving so-called ‘Molotov cocktails’.

Today, three people are serving prison sentences for throwing so-called ‘Molotov cocktails’ during subsequent violent protests, and the EU Delegation in Georgia is demanding their release. Elsewhere, this is called attempted murder, and then the European Commission and other institutions ask us to release individuals who have committed attempted murder. Brussels is an accomplice to these crimes in Georgia; it also finances them and shields those responsible.

Moreover, at the time, they arranged for Salome Zourabichvili to pardon Lazare Grigoriadis. Brussels then stated that this had been agreed with them. The public knew nothing about it, yet they said that Salome Zourabichvili had made the decision to grant the pardon in coordination with them.

Today, right now, three people are in prison in Georgia for setting another person on fire using a so-called ‘Molotov cocktail’, and Brussels is demanding their release. We must stop sugarcoating the situation and call things by their proper names: Brussels today is a supporter of violence and those who perpetrate it in Georgia, finances them and incites violence,” Shalva Papuashvili said.
