Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze made the remarks in response to a journalist’s question about a statement by Pavel Herczynski.
“This person calls the disgrace we witnessed on Rustaveli Avenue over the past several years democracy and human rights. There were several attempts to stage a revolution, which, unfortunately, were openly supported by the European bureaucracy,” the head of government said.
As the Prime Minister noted, Georgia consistently upholds the principles of the rule of law, democracy and human rights, and this is precisely one of the government’s main achievements since 2012.
“We understand better than anyone what democracy is and what human rights are. Unfortunately, Europe has lost the proper understanding of these issues and the ability to analyze them. Georgia consistently upholds the principles of the rule of law, democracy and human rights.
“One of our main achievements since 2012 has been precisely the establishment of democracy, human rights and the rule of law. Against this backdrop, it is regrettable that the European bureaucracy continues to yearn for the agents who governed this country and were distinguished precisely by their violations of the rule of law, democracy and human rights.
“These people want to bring back to power precisely the same political force whose hallmark was and remains the violation of human rights, disregard for democracy and trampling on the rule of law. This will, of course, be duly reflected in Georgian society’s attitude and sentiments toward the European bureaucracy,” the Prime Minister said.
