The President of Georgia announced that she would pardon activist Lazare Grigoriadis. Salome Zurabishvili spoke about this in an interview with the Pirveli television company.
According to Zurabishvili, she made the decision on April 12. The decree has not yet been signed.
Grigoriadis could be released within a few hours or days, the president clarified.
Grigoriadis is a participant in protests on March 7-9, 2023 against the adoption of the law on “foreign agents.” He was accused of violence against police officers and setting fire to a car belonging to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The court sentenced Grigoriadis to 9 years in prison.
