The former head of the State Security Service of the Khelvachauri region, Gennady Surmanidze, was found dead.
According to preliminary information, Surmanidze was returning from Batumi to his home in Chakvi when he was found dead in his car.
Apparently Surmanidze shot himself or was shot in his own car.
Additional details of the incident are unknown at this stage.
As pia.ge news agency was informed, an investigation into the incident was launched under Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Georgia - "Incitement to suicide."
