With the support of the National Wine Agency, a presentation and professional tasting of Georgian wine was held in the Burgundy region of France.
The event, held in Nuits-Saint-Georges, was led by renowned French wine expert Clémence Giraud and attended by more than 80 guests, including representatives from the HoReCa and wine tourism sectors, sommeliers, buyers, wine producers, local wine experts, and journalists.
As part of the program, a presentation was also held for the new book “Burgundy Terroirs and the Traditional Method of Winemaking in Georgia” by France-based Georgian scientist Nato Mamukashvili.
It is notable that, just as Georgia’s ancient qvevri winemaking method has been inscribed on UNESCO’s list of Intangible Cultural Heritage, the terroirs of Burgundy are also recognized as a World Heritage Site.
Guests viewed the documentary "Georgia – The Cradle of Wine", and concluded the evening by sampling Georgian wines paired with traditional Burgundian cuisine.
One of the main priorities of the National Wine Agency is the promotion and global awareness of Georgian wine. Since 2013, the agency has conducted targeted marketing and advertising campaigns in strategic export markets—including France, a country globally renowned for its winemaking—where interest in Georgian wine, particularly qvevri wines, continues to grow.
