The Zugdidi District Court found Badri Esebua, a raider on the Bank of Georgia, guilty of acquiring and storing firearms and ammunition and sentenced him to 4 years in prison.

For information, Esebois was charged with this charge on February 9, after his arrest.

The prosecutor's office continues to investigate the case of the attack on the "Bank of Georgia", the trials on which are still ongoing.

We remind you that on October 21, 2020, an armed man in a mask broke into one of the branches of the Bank of Georgia in Zugdidi and took 43 people hostage. Later it became known that the attacker was Badri Esebua and he demanded a ransom of 500 thousand dollars.

As a result of negotiations with a law enforcement officer, having received consent to the demands, Esebua released most of the hostages and left the bank building together with three hostages and the head of the police department of Samegrelo-Upper Svaneti. There were reports that he had probably moved to occupied Abkhazia.

Badri Esebua was detained by law enforcement agencies at dawn on February 8. He faces up to 15 years in prison.
