At the current European Judo Championships in Zagreb, Georgian athlete Tato Grigalashvili (81 kg) won a gold medal.
The current world champion defeated Frank de Wit from the Netherlands with ippon in the final and won the European Championship for the third time in his career.
A little earlier, Lasha Shavdatuashvili (73 kg) won a bronze medal. The Olympic champion, world and European champion defeated Moldavian athlete Adil Osmanov in the fight for third place in extra time.
Today four more Georgian judokas competed. Georgy Chikhelidze (73 kg), Eter Askilashvili (63 kg), Mariam Chanturia and Nino Gulbani (both 70 kg) dropped out of the tournament at an early stage.
On April 25, Vazha Margvelashvili (66 kg) won the gold medal, and Eteri Lipartelini (57 kg) won the bronze medal.
