During a two-day working visit, the Director of the United Airports of Georgia, Irakli Karkashadze, visited Queen Tamar Airport in Mestia. He met with airport employees and introduced planned infrastructure innovations for the airport.

Development of the Mestia airport is a top priority for 2023, with plans for terminal rehabilitation, building a new fire depot, and replacing existing equipment.

The director also mentioned that a tender for procurement of domestic flights, including new routes, will be announced soon.

In 2022, the share of foreign citizens on the Mestia-Kutaisi-Mestia route was 70% and on the Natakhtari-Mestia-Natakhtari route was 37.5%.
