Work on the new stadium project is ongoing, and we expect construction to begin in September, said Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze during his annual address to parliament.

According to the head of government, the stadium will be designed to accommodate 70,000 spectators and will be capable of hosting Champions League matches and other high-level events.

“We are working on the new stadium project that was announced last year. It will be a modern stadium with a capacity of 70,000, suitable for hosting Champions League matches and other top-tier tournaments. It will be designed for both football and rugby. In addition, it will be a multifunctional facility with a variety of uses. For example, the country currently lacks a proper exhibition and conference center, and the stadium will fulfill that role as well. The infrastructure will be multifunctional in nature. Project development is already underway, and we believe construction will begin in September. Before that, we will present the project to the public, and once it receives public approval, we will move forward with construction,” the Prime Minister stated.
