The European Court of Human Rights accepted for consideration the claim "Georgia against Russia".
This is the fourth interstate lawsuit filed by Georgia against Russia. We are talking about violations of human rights along the line of occupation. Georgia filed the aforementioned lawsuit with the Strasbourg Court on August 22, 2018.
The document refers to the deaths of Georgian citizens David Basharuli, Archil Tatunashvili and Gigi Ochtozoria. Tbilisi claims that representatives of the de facto law enforcement agencies responsible for the deaths of Georgian citizens are not being extradited by Russia. Individual lawsuits have also been filed in these cases.
Representatives of Georgia claim that Russia has violated several articles of European conventions - article 2 (right to life), article 3 on the prohibition of torture, article 5 (right to liberty and security of person) and a number of other provisions.
For information, Giga Otkhozoria died on May 19, 1916 in the village of Khurcha in occupied Abkhazia. He was killed by the so-called. border guard Rashid Kanji-ogly.
