The recent implementation of visa-free travel to China for Georgians is heralded as a significant boost for Georgian wine exporters, enabling more direct engagement with one of the largest markets in the world.
Baia Abuladze, the visionary behind "Baya Wine," discussed on the "Business Partner" program how this policy change is expected to streamline and enhance their export operations to China.
"Since 2021, we've been making inroads into the Chinese market. We've had invitations to local expos which represent a golden opportunity for small to mid-sized ventures like ours. This November, we're coordinating a trip for a group of winemakers to China. Their attendance is key to forging stronger ties with our Chinese counterparts—both our current clientele and the Horeca sector," elaborated Baia Abuladze.
It's worth noting that the visa-free arrangement with China allows Georgian citizens to stay in the country for up to 30 days without a visa. This regime came into effect for Chinese nationals visiting Georgia from September 11, 2023. Additionally, a strategic partnership agreement was inked between Georgia and China in June 2023, underscoring the deepening bilateral relations between the two nations.
