A fire at a gas station in Dagestan has killed at least 27 people, including three children, the regional emergency medical service said.

On the night of August 15, a fire broke out in a car repair shop on a highway in the capital of Dagestan, Makhachkala, which spread to a nearby gas station. Several explosions followed.

At least 66 people were injured. 10 of them are in serious condition, Deputy Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Vladimir Fisenko said.

According to Interfax, based on data from the Ministry of Health of Dagestan, 13 children were among the victims.

The fire reportedly spread over an area of 600 square meters. It took firefighters more than 3 hours to extinguish it.
