An H145 rescue helicopter from Airbus Helicopters has been handed over to the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The acceptance certificates were issued in Germany, at the Airbus Helicopters base, where representatives of the Georgian side arrived.
Currently, pilots and flight technicians of the Georgian Border Police are undergoing training at the Airbus Helicopters training academy in Germany. The training course will end on March 15, after which the helicopter will be transported to Georgia by the Georgian crew.
The contract for the purchase of the helicopter was signed in December 2022. Georgia expects to receive two more aircraft this summer.
The helicopter is fully equipped with fire-fighting and mountain rescue equipment, has 2 engines, which increases flight safety, and is characterized by increased maneuverability, which is important for working in the mountains.
Georgia ordered the helicopters from the French company Airbus Helicopters for 26,500,000 euros. Previously, the authorities promised that deliveries would begin at the end of 2023.
