The prohibition on the entry of tourists into Shiomghvime Monastery's premises remains in effect, as announced by Gocha Kavtaradze, the Deputy State Representative for the Mtskheta-Mtianeti region.
"The Geological Service has completed its assessment, and we are currently awaiting their final conclusions to guide our next steps," said Kavtaradze. "In collaboration with the monastery's leadership, we have instituted measures to restrict access to the site for both pilgrims and tourists, and this policy remains in place."
Kavtaradze added that any subsequent decisions, whether to lift or continue the restrictions, would be based on the recommendations provided by the geological experts. "Depending on the findings, we will determine the most appropriate course of action, which may include ongoing restrictions or a complete ban," he concluded.
